Our Story
It started on a Tuesday night in an airport lounge. Our founder was booking a hotel for a last-minute business trip, comparing prices across three different apps on a phone with 12% battery. The listed price was $189. The final checkout price? $247—after taxes, a resort fee, and a “facility charge” that appeared only on the last screen.
That moment crystallized a problem millions of travelers face every day: the hotel booking industry is built on hidden costs. Platforms compete on the lowest displayed rate, not the lowest actual rate. The result is a system that rewards deception and punishes the people who matter most—the travelers.
ClearRate Stays exists to fix that. We partnered directly with hotel properties and built our own pricing engine that calculates the true all-in cost before you ever see a search result. No fine print. No checkout surprises. Just the honest price, presented clearly on a mobile interface designed for real-world use.
